Privacy Policy

The Meditation Timer ("we", "us", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only what is needed to provide the app experience:

• Email address — used for passwordless sign-in and account identification.
• Display name — an optional name you choose, shown only to you within the app.
• Meditation session data — start time, end time, duration, date saved, streak-related history, and other meditation history needed to show your progress in the app.
• Preferences — reminder settings, haptic feedback, sound settings, timer defaults, and timezone.
• Membership data — if subscriptions are enabled in your build, we process subscription status, trial state, purchase restoration state, and related membership entitlements.
• Crash diagnostics — if runtime crash reporting is enabled for the build you are using, we may collect technical crash data such as stack traces, app version, operating system version, and device model to diagnose failures.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not use advertising SDKs or track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do not collect precise location, contacts, photos, microphone recordings, or push notification tokens for our own servers. The app does not use cookies for advertising or cross-app tracking.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To authenticate you and provide access to your account.
• To store and display your meditation history, streaks, and statistics.
• To schedule daily practice reminders if you enable them. When reminders are enabled, the app registers a local notification with the operating system. No push notification tokens are sent to our servers.
• To manage subscription access, trial eligibility, purchase restore, and billing status when membership features are enabled.
• To investigate app crashes and reliability issues using technical diagnostic reports when crash reporting is enabled.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore, secured by Firebase Authentication. Access is restricted to your account only — no other user can read or modify your data. All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Firebase (Google) — authentication, database, and hosting. Subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.
• Resend — delivery of branded passwordless sign-in emails sent from our backend. Subject to Resend’s Privacy Policy.
• RevenueCat — subscription purchase, entitlement, and restore management when membership is enabled. Subject to RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
• Apple — App Store billing and subscription management for purchases made through your Apple ID. Subject to Apple’s Privacy Policy.
• Sentry — crash reporting when enabled for a release build. Subject to Sentry’s Privacy Policy.

We do not sell, share, or provide your personal data to advertisers or data brokers.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings > Account > Delete Account. When you delete your account, all of your data — including your profile, session history, and preferences — is permanently removed from our servers.

7. Children’s Privacy

The Meditation Timer is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you (visible in the app).
• Delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app.
• Opt out of notifications by disabling reminders in Settings.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by other appropriate means. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
